Adobe release public beta of Photoshop CS3

Photoshop have done us proud by releasing a public beta version of Adobe Photoshop CS3 months in advance of it’s official release – go get it now and see what all the fuss is about!

Yes, and I quote – ‘for the first time ever’ Adobe have given the Intel based Mac community a little sweetener in the form of an (almost) fully working version of the next version of Photoshop, which is scheduled for release in Spring 2007. This is what we have all been waiting for, an Intel native version of Photoshop!

Although beta versions lack some of the refinements that will feature in the final product, it will allow users to not only run an Intel native version of Photoshop whilst waiting for the official release, but also try out most of the cool new features!

Of most note are the arrival of ‘Smart Filters’ that act like layer effects – an important evolution in non-destructive editing, the key to pro Photoshop usage. I have been waiting literally years for this to appear in Photoshop!

Also of interest is the new ‘refine edge’ feature – allowing quick adjustment of selections. You can now feather, smooth, expand or contract using slider controls via the options bar.

So – go ahead and get it now! Registered users of Photoshop CS2 are able to get a license key to unlock the beta indefinitely, or it will function for two days without. You will also need an Adobe ID to login and download the beta.
