CS2 multiple layer selection and linking, mixed opinions!

I have finally had a chance to play around and review Photoshop CS2 - and it seems that they have overhauled the layers palette functionality, which has been pretty much left un-touched for a while. With a new way to multiple select layers and also a different layer linking method it seems opinions are out at the moment on this! I personally think the new shift click selection of multiple layers is a joy, and comes so naturally from using the same technique in pretty much every other application it almost seems strange that it was missed out this long! I don’t think anyone would have a problem with this and new users will find it quite natural.

On the flip side I’m not too sure about the link layers icon down the bottom of the layers palette, although I understand why this was done really - it does free-up more room horizontally for the layers. That’s gonna take some getting used to. However, I have heard some mumblings to the contrary from other designers that have been using it, but at the end of the day we better get used to it as we are going to be using it for the next 18 months or so!

I will have to wait until I get my very own version to fully appreciate all the new functions of CS2, but I love it from what I’ve seen… and don’t even get me started on Smart Objects… mmm, ninja boy likes!
