If you have a complex composition with adjustment layers in these get deleted usually, but apart from that it behaves fairly well. I would recommend you begin your file in the desired colourspace (eg RGB or CMYK) to save this trouble. If it would just convert image mode leaving layers intact, you'd shave off a few extra seconds haha.
