Duplicating Layer Masks the easy way

You will need to learn how to use layer masks in Photoshop to really harness the power of transparency.

Layer Masks are one of the most powerful features of Photoshop, offering almost infinite transparency editing.

Duplicating one onto another layer can be a bit time consuming, even if you do it all with shortcuts.

The easy way is to simply click on the layer you want to copy the layer mask to, then click and drag the layer mask thumbnail of the source layer down onto to new layer mask icon…and there you go, it duplicates it onto the new layer for you!

BONUS TIP
Oh, and don’t forget you can put 2 bitmap greyscale layer masks on a layer by putting the original masked image in a layer set (folder), and then putting a layer mask on the actual layer set (folder) too, there-by cheating Photoshop and letting you apply two layer masks to one layer…nice! Also, remember you can add a vector mask onto a layer in addition too-so if you really needed it you could have 4 layer masks acting upon 1 layer-now thats what you call editable workflow…to the max!
