Selecting colours from your image quickly

Selecting colours when you are using the brush tools can be a bit of a long-winded process – switching between the eye dropper and back to your brush…not the most efficient way of working that’s for sure!

The quick way to do this is whilst you have your brush active, simply hold down alt, this temporarily switches your active tool to the eye dropper, allowing you to pick up the colour you wish from your image. When you let go of alt you revert back to the previous active tool, which in this case would be your brush. Note that this also works with most other tools!

BONUS TIP
Remember your foreground and background shortcut:

X – Swop foreground and background colours

This effectively allows you to load up two colours ready to use in your brush work. Just hold down alt, select one colour, let go of alt, hit X to swop the colours and hold down alt to load another colour. This is also or useful for the setup of colour dynamics in the brush palette!
