Altering layer order with keyboard shortcuts

This is a great little tip, especially if you have a-lot of layers! Sometimes you want to move a layer up or down in the layers palette and at the same time keeping an eye on your artwork to see how it is effecting your composition.

Simply use the keyboard shortcuts of Apple+[ and Apple+] to move the active layer up and down in the layer order. This shortcut can save a-lot of mousing around over to the layers palette and is great with both creative compositions and when shading illustrations… in-fact any time you wish to alter layer order when you are feeling a little lazy!

One thing to note is that if you are using layer sets this shortcut will move the active layer INTO the layer set if it is revealed (layers visible in layer set – little arrow pointing down). If the layer set is minimised (layers not visible in palette – little arrow pointing right) the shortcut will move the layer above or below the layer set and not put it inside it.
