Selecting and grouping layers quickly in Photoshop CS3

As Photoshop documents get more and more layers in them you should make sure you keep your document organised by using layer sets which keeps your layers in nice little folders. There is a couple of new shortcuts in Photoshop CS3 that allows you to organise your layers super fast!

There is a couple of ways to select multiple layers - if they are all together (one after another) simply click to select the top layer (or bottom, whichever is more convenient!) in the stack of layers you want to select, then hold down shift and click on last layer in the stack. All the layers will be selected inbetween.

If your layers are scattered around the stack, you can hold down Apple and click on each that you want to select.

To remove layers from your selected range, just Apple click on each one you want to remove form your highlighted selection.

Once you have got the layers selected that you wish to move into a group, just use the keyboard shortcut Apple+G (just like in lots of other applications!) to move your layers into a new layer set.
