New shortcut for duplicating layers masks and effects in Photoshop CS2

In previous versions of Photoshop you just dragged layer effects to duplicate them onto other layers, and dragged layer masks onto the new layer mask icon to duplicate onto other layers, this has changed in Photoshop CS2.

I can understand why this has been changed for layer masks, but I find it somewhat confusing why Adobe changed this technique for layer effects – I guess its just for consistency. In Photoshop CS2 you duplicate both layer masks and layer effects by holding down Alt and then dragging from one layer to another.

Be sure to hold down Alt first – ifyou drag first and then hold Alt mid-drag it won’t work, which is a little confusing as this technique works in other Adobe applications like InDesign CS2.
